We'd like to say a massive congratulations to Share student, Georgia, who completed the TCS London Marathon MyWay in April, finishing with an impressive time of four hours and 40 minutes. 🏅 @LondonMarathon Georgia chose to run in support of Share, raising an incredible £2,521 for our charity! This will make a real difference to the work we do at Share and we're deeply moved by her commitment and generosity. Running a marathon is no small feat. It takes great strength, a huge amount of dedication, and countless hours of training. Georgia committed wholeheartedly, training weekly with running buddies from her club, @windmilers, and putting in extra miles in her own time. 🏃 Reflecting on the marathon, Georgia told us, 'It was a really good day and I really enjoyed the run'. She shared her race-day strategy, explaining how she kept a steady running pace throughout and finished strong with a sprint. Georgia said she felt 'proud and relieved' when she reached the finish line. Thank you Georgia, not only for your generosity to Share but also for inspiring us all through your hard work and determination. 🙌

Yesterday, our Horticulture students visited Springfield University Hospital to celebrate Learning Disability Week. ✨ They set up a market stall in the Trinity building, selling plants from our garden (which they grew and nurtured themselves), along with other Share goodies. It was a great chance for our students to connect with some of the hospital staff and patients, and everybody had a lovely time. By the end of the day, they'd sold most of their plants and lots of greetings cards too, raising £200 - all of which will go straight back into supporting our work! 🙌 Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by, chatted with us, and showed their support. 💛 @SWLNHS @SWLSTG #LearningDisabilityWeek #LearningDisabilityWeek2025 @mencap_charity

Happy #AutisticPrideDay! 🎉 Celebrated every year on 18th June, Autistic Pride Day is a time to recognise and honour the strengths, perspectives, and experiences of autistic people around the world. Many people celebrate the day by hosting community events such as rallies, marches, and art exhibitions. These help raise awareness about autism and promote inclusion of autistic people in society. You might also see the rainbow infinity symbol today. 🌈♾️ It represents the diversity of the autism spectrum and the infinite potential of the autistic community. It’s a reminder that no two autistic people are the same and every individual brings their own unique voice and gifts to the world. #Autism #AutisticPride #AutisticPrideDay2025 #Pride #Diversity #Inclusion

It's Great Big Green Week - the UK's largest celebration of community-led action to tackle climate change and protect nature! 🌍🌿 Organised by @TheCCoalition, this week brings together thousands of people, groups and local organisations across the country who care about the planet and want to make a difference. You can take part in a wide range of events, from local litter picks and pre-loved clothing swaps to tree planting, green fairs and more - all aimed at promoting sustainable living and a greener future for everyone. 💚 Our Horticulture students recently took a trip to our Community Café in Vauxhall to add a new planter to our green space outside. They also did some garden maintenance tasks like litter picking, pruning, deadheading, sweeping and adding more soil into the potato bags. Green spaces like ours are so valuable to the local community. They help support pollinators and wildlife, reduce pollution, and give people a place to connect with nature, which is great for our wellbeing. It’s lovely to see our students taking action and helping to make the local area greener. 🙌 #GreatBigGreenWeek #GreatBigGreenWeek2025 #LearningDisabilities

It's Carers Week, and this year’s theme, 'Caring About Equality', calls on all of us to recognise and address the challenges and inequalities faced by unpaid carers. @carersweek Unpaid carers provide essential support to family members, friends, or neighbours who are disabled, living with a mental or physical illness, or in need of extra help as they grow older. They do this without pay, often while juggling work, studies, and their own health and wellbeing. There are 5.8 million unpaid carers in the UK, but despite the vital role that they play in our society, many of them still go unrecognised and unsupported. In fact, research by @CarersUK found that a whopping 1.2 million unpaid carers in the UK live in poverty. They are also more likely to experience loneliness and serious impacts on their mental and physical health. Whether it's advocating for better policies, offering a helping hand, or simply taking the time to listen, every action we take helps build a fairer, more compassionate society. It’s time to ensure unpaid carers are no longer overlooked, but truly seen, supported and valued. #CarersWeek #CarersWeek2025 #LearningDisabilities #Autism

It’s #VolunteersWeek, and we’re celebrating the incredible contributions of our volunteers here at Share! This year, we relaunched our much-loved social inclusion project: Go Anywhere, Do Anything. Thanks to the dedication of our amazing volunteer social buddies, our students have been enjoying evenings and weekends filled with a variety of exciting activities. 🌟 One recent highlight was a night out at Bubble Club - a nightclub run by and for adults with learning disabilities. Volunteer James shared, 'It was a wonderful and safe event. So heartwarming to see everyone expressing themselves freely'. Our students had an unforgettable time too, with Kwabena being dubbed 'the life and soul of the party' as he 'rocked the dance floor all night long with his killer moves'. 🕺 @BubbleClub We can’t thank James and all of our volunteer social buddies enough for generously giving their time, energy, and kindness to create these memorable experiences. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of our students, supporting them to feel seen, valued, and empowered to explore the world around them. ✨ @VolunteersWeek #VolunteersWeek #VolunteersWeek2025 #Volunteers #LearningDisabilityServices
