@bla_bidza @InnscorAfrica We'd need to cultivate a coffee-on-the-go culture. Innscor is the culprit! They've been selling Recoffee /plastic coffee when you order a coffee at their Bakers Inn outlets! 🤣

Zimbabwe urgently needs a robust and well-structured coffee retail market, and @InnscorAfrica is uniquely positioned to lead its development. The strategy should begin at the foundational level, establishing coffee kiosks at universities, particularly near or in the libraries, where consumption habits can be cultivated early. This “catch-them-young” approach nurtures a culture of coffee appreciation that naturally transitions with consumers into their professional lives. From there, the ecosystem can be expanded through the strategic placement of coffee vending machines in offices and high-traffic commercial hubs, ensuring convenience and constant accessibility. Coffee shops themselves should evolve beyond simple retail spaces into functional environments, offering table bookings tailored for job interviews, informal meetings, and professional networking. And companies offering tokens for executives on account. Coffee service in Highway service stations to keep drivers energetic and road awareness. At street level, compact corner cafés can provide ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee options, complemented by the availability of concentrated ~40ml espresso shots for those seeking a stronger, more immediate boost. Coffee, much like other habit-forming consumables, fosters routine and loyalty; when approached responsibly, this translates into a more energised, alert, and productive workforce. In this sense, building a coffee culture is not merely a commercial opportunity, it is an investment in the rhythm and efficiency of modern economic life.

The concept of "teenager" is a modern invention. For most of human history, a boy of 13 was already a man, apprenticed in a trade or fighting in a war. George Washington was a professional surveyor at 16. Alexander Hamilton managed a trading company at 14. In medieval Europe, noble boys could be pages at 7 and squires by 14. In Rome, a boy put on the "toga of manhood" at 14. The idea that an 18 year-old is "still figuring things out" would have been incomprehensible to our ancestors. I believe this is why we think teenagers are so troubled. They are men and women stuck in a society that treats them as children. Of course they are going to "rebel". We should give them more responsibility and expect much more of them.

@ny_emman The definition of "White Elephant" Projects: don't build infrastructure that's higher valued than the living standards of the communities in which it is installed. It's not a cultural or race thing: it's an economic reality.

These Eurpean rail track solar panels wouldn't last a day in Sub-Saharan Africa. I suppose such solutions can only be sucessful if death penalty is introduced on theft & vandalism of public infrastructure.

The man who scaled M-PESA to 60 million customers now runs Absa's retail banking empire. @Sitoyo takes charge April 1 — the first non-South African to lead Absa Personal and Private Banking. This is the fintech-to-banking crossover the continent has been waiting for. Back in 2005, while at Caltex, he sketched the idea of fuel stations as mobile money agent points. That concept became the agent model now replicated globally. At Safaricom from 2011, he rose from M-PESA Strategy head to Managing Director of M-PESA Africa. Under his watch: the Super App, Fuliza, PayPal integration, AliPay partnership, Ziidi Trader for stock trading. 60 million customers. 8 African markets. 5 million businesses. The 11:FS Hall of Fame inducted him. Now Absa has hired him to bring that playbook to traditional banking. If he succeeds, every bank on the continent will study this move. If they fail to respond, they already know what's coming. The Man Who Scaled M-PESA to 60 Million Customers Now Runs Absa's Retail Empire powerlist.africa/the-man-who-sc…

Being a man isn’t always easy. You plan the trip, fuel the car, make sure everyone’s comfortable… and somewhere along the way, the music goes quiet. You check the mirror 🪞 All the babies? Fast asleep. Even your babe? Gone 😄 And just like that, from “family man” to a chauffeur. Deep down, you smile though you feel they should keep you company and help stay awake as well 😴. But this is what love looks like; Carrying everyone safely, even when they don’t see it in the moment. Men… we keep driving ❤️

@joeboy_forex Personality is the #1 factor in this case. Lack of exposure is no excuse for a tertiary scholar in this digitally connected world where access to news, information and knowledge tools has been democratized.

In my circle, I have four lawyer friends -three from UZ, two of whom graduated in 2024 (one very recently), and another from ZEGU who also graduated in 2024. Looking at their lives, the one from ZEGU seems to be struggling compared to the others. Even getting work has been difficult either she gets dismissed quickly or ends up working for a museyemwa. It makes me think that beyond just the degree, factors like exposure, mindset, confidence, and overall development play a big role. That UZ “elite mentality’ influence how you carry yourself, network, and position yourself and can be just as important as qualifications when it comes to career growth. 85% yevanhu vakadzidza paUZ haina kudhibha ‼️‼️

@tmukogo Well written and easily understood. I think these 2 simple points from your article are key to understanding business in Zim: 1) it takes money to make money (cash is king in Zim where credit is limited) 2) Innscor has always excelled and generating cash! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
