TANZANIA AND SWEDEN STRENGTHEN COOPERATION IN TRADE, ENERGY, AND DEVELOPMENT The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), held talks with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Hon. Maria Malmer Stenergard, on the sidelines of the 22nd Africa–Nordic Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, on 2–3 October 2025. The discussions focused on enhancing the long-standing partnership between Tanzania and Sweden in the areas of politics, economy, energy, and human development. Minister Kombo expressed Tanzania’s appreciation for Sweden’s substantial contribution to the country’s development, particularly in the sectors of education, health, energy, good governance, and community development. He emphasized that Tanzania highly values the historic relationship between the two nations and is committed to further strengthening it for the mutual benefit of both sides. He also underscored the importance of promoting trade and investment rather than relying solely on aid, inviting Sweden to increase its investments in renewable energy, ICT, agriculture, industry, and tourism. The Minister noted that Tanzania aims to achieve 85 percent national energy access by 2025 and therefore welcomes collaboration in clean and sustainable energy projects. For her part, Minister Stenergard commended Tanzania for maintaining peace, good governance, and inclusive economic growth policies. She acknowledged Tanzania’s vital role as a pillar of peace and development in the East African region. Minister Stenergard further assured that Sweden will continue to cooperate with Tanzania in promoting democracy, social development, and renewable energy initiatives. She noted that Swedish companies are keen to expand their investments in Tanzania, particularly in infrastructure, mining, transport, and healthcare. The two ministers agreed to establish a framework for political and economic consultations aimed at laying a solid foundation for a strategic partnership that will foster sustainable development for the people of both nations.

TANZANIAN DIASPORA TO ACCESS SERVICES MORE EASILY THROUGH "AKAUNTI YA MZAWA" – HON. CHUMI The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Cosato Chumi (MP), has announced that Tanzanians living abroad will now be able to access financial services more conveniently through the "Akaunti ya Mzawa", launched by Absa Bank Tanzania. Speaking at the launch event held in Dar es Salaam, Hon. Chumi commended the initiative, stating that it provides an opportunity for the diaspora to actively contribute to national development through investment, remittance services, and insurance, all available in five different currencies.

@telenor @TelenorDanmark you sold me services which are being paid for on time, but last month I added a new line to my account. The credit limit remained the same so you suspended all my services with one hour notice. The credit card on file is good and all bills are paid automatically. When I called I was advised that the credit limit won’t be increased and it was a mistake to sell me another line above the maximum credit limit you provide for customers. Obviously I asked for a solution and was advised that the only solution will be to go to another phone company. Really?? I am absolutely shocked at your customer service - and so I will move to another company even if I have been with you for many years. 😒 I do recommend that you invest in training customer services and your client retention abilities.

It was an honour to lay the wreath at the monument for Our Fallen in Copenhagen on behalf of the Tanzanian Government on this Remebrance Day. Standing with the UK, Danish, Conmonwealth and Allies, we remembered all our many, many members of the armed forces and citizens who have given their lives for our freedom: they gave their today for our tomorrow.
