@9uNvCpMSKaSFoRA I don't think Aaron Wolf counts in the same way as these young, predominantly home grown stars do. His outside fame influences things. Of course he IS another example of people winning things before Shota, though. XD

Callum Newman being the top heel in the company would allow House of Torture to take a bit of a back seat. That wouldn't be a bad thing. HoT being the only genuine heel faction was always a bit of a challenge since it meant needing them all over the card. We now have UE too.

New Japan is not a perfect promotion. At points, it's not even good at all, but it makes you feel things and that makes me tune in It's exactly why moments like the last two days hit so much. It makes me feel something Between the Callum rise, Yuya becoming a star, Shota's redemption, Boltin going insane, TMDK/Unbound Tags, Yujiro going crazy for no reason, I had a lot of fun with the tour and can take a lot of positives out of it #njcup

People keep saying 'Yuya hasn't won anything either' because he didn't have the KOPW belt at the end of the year, but I don't think it's comparable. NJPW CHOSE to give Yuya that belt. He was given an achievement and a title win. Something to carry around and show off. It counts.

@DatJimmy13 They wanted to build Callum as their new top heel and I think that's why this had to happen. Yuya is still in the early stages of the NJPW babyface run. He hasn't even gotten to the torturous 'lose a bunch of iwgp title challenges' stage that Shota is at yet.

@Luna_100_0 No, sorry, I'm not going to agree with this. While that is indeed the rule, New Japan CHOSE to give Yuya this belt. He was given an achievement and a title win. Something to carry around and show off. Something that proved his success. They've not given Shota anything.

@SmarkInfested I don't think you can count KOPW for Yuya, the rule was that they only were champions if they held it by the end of the end so he doesn't count and is on zero like Shota Umino

@unmasked_taro I've felt like this a lot the last year or so when I watched one of my faves get treated (and booked) like shit and I couldn't even talk about it without random people showing up to remind me why he sucks, so I get this feeling and maybe taking a short break will help?

I feel like people take a narrative and judge a wrestler no matter what they do… Callum is the same and I feel it’s like what we see for shota. You decide you don’t like them and continue to run with it without acknowledging improvement or realising how young he is. GO CALLUM!

People are going to give Callum shit for winning, especially over a fan favourite in Yuya, but I truly think he's shown tremendous growth and those that have been watching will at the very least recognize the effort. Besides, NJPW is building another top heel and we need those.
