People can rip on California and some of it is fair criticism. But when I first started, there was no such thing as night flying water dropping helicopters. Most states and countries don’t have night flying water dropping helicopters. Our firefighting air fleet is second to none.

#SpringsFire the dew point in the IE is at 8° F right now. Keep in mind, thats 24 degrees below freezing. In other words, no humidity recovery is on the way.

I’m not in the immediate area of the #SpringsFire but I’m close to it. The wind has certainly died down for the afternoon. However, the humidity has dropped like a rock. I’m at 6% RH in the IE. Don’t expect a wind driven fire tonight, but hot spots will continue to burn.

Keep your ears up and eyes open. We might get a fire tomorrow or Saturday. It’s not uncommon to get an odd ripper in early spring. And the weather is conducive to a fire right now. Might not happen, but don’t be surprised if it does.

The KSOX radar station in the Santa Ana mountains came back on line earlier this afternoon. Probably won’t be needed much the next few weeks, but good to have this real time data available. Good work to the techs getting it fixed. 💪

Looks like the KSOX radar station near Sierra peak may have got damaged during last nights storm. No updates from it in nearly 24 hours. @RichIMET any insight?
