This is the biggest freak athlete in this year’s NFL draft. I’d never heard of him till two days ago. He’s from a small village in Nigeria. He is 6-4 1/2, 306 lbs and jumps 10-10. Some folks in the NFL think he’ll go on Day 3 of the draft. Free story: nytimes.com/athletic/71683…

The NCAA is expected to finalize an expansion of the men’s and women’s tournaments to 76 teams soon after the completion of this year’s March Madness tournament, per Yahoo Sports' @RossDellenger. Barring something unforeseen, “it will happen,” a high-placed source told Dellenger. The proposal would add eight games to the First Four, with 24 teams playing in an opening round before advancing into the second round.

Comp update: Kirk Cousins will sign a five-year, $172 million deal with the Raiders that in reality is a one-year, fully-guaranteed $20 million deal that also contains a club option for two years at $80M. The Falcons will pay Cousins $8.7 million this season, the Raiders another $1.3 million and Las Vegas also agreed to pay its new QB a fully-guaranteed $10 million roster bonus on the third day of the 2027 new league year. And maybe most notably, it also sets another new mark: this will be the 11th straight NFL season in which Cousins’ contract will be fully guaranteed.

NFL's Rooney Rule officially went into effect in 2003. It was established following recommendations from the league’s Workplace Diversity Committee, chaired by the late Dan Rooney owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The intention was good, but at the end of the day the owners still have final say as they should it’s their franchise. Several have no issue doing a thorough analysis and search for the most qualified candidate regardless of color, others make a mockery of rule. It’s like a dog chasing its tail, they catch it every once in awhile but most of the time they go around in circles.
