@PDWilliamsGWU @call4pax Chuck was my dissertation supervisor, and although I stand by my decision to not use the term "muffin top" instead of "sovereign interstice" in my work, I realize now that having a chair who cares enough about your model to try and mangle it is a rare thing indeed. 😁

Brilliant exercise! Learning to write for audiences that aren't teachers is perhaps the most important bridging skill needed to get from HS to the workplace. We should train students to do this every chance we get.

Every year, my students in my IR history course impress me so much with their Wikipedia pages. They have to write on something that does not already have an entry. Here are this year's creations which have already been viewed over 250k. times (1/ 8)

Turns out that using common sense (instead of looking things up at an authoritative source) is basically the same as "deciding to be off by about 20%" today.yougov.com/topics/politic…

@rob_schmitz @NPRKelly Do you think the two are related? Instilling and intensifying economic precarity in Ukraine is such a striking side effect of Russian saber-rattling that it's hard to imagine it's not intentional: twitter.com/AU_SIS/status/…

We asked SIS professor Dylan Craig (@SovInterstice), an expert on proxy wars, a few questions about factors that Russia and Ukraine may both be considering at this time. bit.ly/3KPaYnu

@NPRKelly Exactly—Here was the scene I captured at Independence Square on Tuesday, when hundreds of small business owners marched to protest government tax reforms:

Out and about for interviews in Kyiv this morning, we stumbled on not one but two protests that have nothing to do with war. This one is small business owners outside the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament…

Now that grading's done, I'm going to reward myself by opening up these books, a new Google Sheet, and my gray matter (hopefully in that order). @uedaxecker

@LeahLikesDogs Worked pretty well for him in "Dying to Win." A charitable read is that he casts himself as the dummy in order to skewer "a dumb thing that everyone thinks" - whether that dumb thing is "only religious groups have martyrs" or "Trumpism is about economic anxiety."
