Mrs Rigby came to talk to Year 5 about what is was like to live during World War 2. She was a volunteer in the WAF and her husband, Charlie was a soldier in the war. She had an amazing story to tell! #stgeorgeshydeyear5 #stgeorgeshydehistory

Reception and Year 1 made buns for our VE Day celebrations. We heard all about what Victory in Europe means and to mark the occasion, we had our very own “street party” in our playground eating the buns we made. #stgeorgeshydereception #stgeorgeshydeyear1

Year 1 and Eden room children visited Lancaster Farm to learn why farms are so important. We saw lots of different animals and we fed a horse called Mr Moustachio! All the children, teachers and parents had an amazing day! #stgeorgeshydeyear1 #stgeorgeshydeedenroom

Year 4 celebrated their Learning Challenge ‘Why would you like to visit Spain?’ inviting their parents to a Spanish banquet. There was delicious food, Spanish music and the children showcased everything they have learnt about Spanish culture and traditions. #stgeorgeshydeyear4

Reception heard the story of why we celebrate St George’s day. We acted out the story using masks and props and had lots of fun making a flag. We pretended we were the villagers, and all went outside and cheered "Hip, Hip Hooray for St George’s Day" #stgeorgeshydereception

Year 4 and Year 6 entertained us with their musical talents today. They showcased their learning from last half term singing songs and playing their Ukuleles. Year 4 wrote their own song about the Romans! #stgeorgeshydemusic

Reception parents came to share the children's learning outcome, “Who is my story hero?” The children retold their story-a story with a character, setting, problem and resolution.  Thank you to everyone who came to share the children's learning with them. #stgeorgeshydereception

The children are loving their art lessons. They have practiced using watercolours and blending them altogether with water. They have made different patterns by blowing the paint with a straw and finger painting. Their artwork is beautiful! #stgeorgeshydeart #stgeorgeshydeyear1

Year 1, Year 3 and Year 5 have loved working with our new art teacher this week, Mrs Wood. Y1 have been looking at Pop art. Y3 have been comparing Alaa artwork with Ancient Egyptian art. Y5 have been researching techniques used by the artist Peter Thorpe. #stgeorgeshydeart

Our little bikers @active_tameside did brilliantly this week, learning to ride their bikes. Reception and Nursery children showed perseverance and resilience learning how to balance and push on their bikes. The children were fantastic, and they had so much fun! #stgeorgeshydepe

Year 5 have enjoyed learning their bike riding skills and road safety this week with @bikeability with @active_tameside. They have persevered and have used lots of resilience to improve their skills. Despite the cold weather they did amazing!

Thanks to our sponsors @UDC_Construct, Nemo's Garage and @newsintameside who have helped to buy our new girls and boys kits which we will be able to use for any sports events. They look amazing and we will be wearing them at our first girls and boys football matches tonight.

Y5 and Y6 enjoyed their Viking and Anglo Saxon experiences with @PastProductions yesterday. Getting a taste of every day life through drama, looking at artefacts and meeting the settlers! A fabulous day!

A brilliant day with @paulsturgess_ today - The world's tallest professional basketball player. His talk included celebrating being unique and being proud of who you are; using your talents to be your best. Great basketball sessions too. An amazing man and such a fantastic day!

Nursery and Reception had a fantastic time at Ponderosa Zoo today. The weather was beautiful and they saw lots of amazing animals. There were meercats, lemurs, reindeer, monkeys, fish and so much more! They even got to play on the air bouncers and the play area.

Year 6 are really pleased with their Fairtrade Leavers Hoodies. Thank you to St George's Church who have help to buy them. Happy to be supporting Fairtrade! @FairtradeUKEd @KoolskoolsUK

An amazing day for our ‘Walk in the park’ for the Great Big Green Week. So lovely to see so many families together sharing a picnic and having fun. We had cricket, badminton, football, bikes, scooters, bubbles, ice-cream, sunshine – a fantastic way to spend a Saturday morning!

We have had a great time this week in Fun, Friends and Fitness week taking part in skipping workshops, ‘Freddie Fit’ and we have had lovely weather for all our sport days. We have also started our mental health and wellbeing programme, myHappymind. @FreddyFitCom @myHappymind_
