Ένα ghost product είναι ένα προϊόν που εμφανίζεται σκόπιμα στον κατάλογο, στη βιτρίνα ή στο e-shop χωρίς σκοπό να πουληθεί, αλλά για να κάνει μια άλλη επιλογή να φαίνεται πιο ελκυστική. Η λογική είναι παρόμοια με το “decoy effect” (εφέ δολώματος): •Το ghost product έχει χαρακτηριστικά ή τιμή που το κάνουν να φαίνεται λιγότερο συμφέρον. •Ο πελάτης, συγκρίνοντάς το με το πραγματικό προϊόν-στόχο, θεωρεί το δεύτερο πιο συμφέρον και το επιλέγει.
