Ref should see it's a straight red for Gabriel. VAR is pointless if it isn't correcting that very clear and very obvious error. Retrospective red should happen but probably won't meaning Gabriel won't serve a 3 game ban. That huge error could play a huge part in the title run in

Newcastle are in danger of having a worse points total than the 21/22 season when Howe took over. We got 49 points that season. That would be criminal.

On Woltemade/Wissa... I come back to, "managers don't pick teams, players do". Howe sees far more than any of us in training. He is picking the best team to win a game, of course he is. He referenced Osula training well when asked about Woltemade/Wissa absence - what does that tell you? It's not on Howe to pick them because they cost a lot of money, it's on any player to make himself selectable ahead of rivals in his position. Yes, he signed them last summer (albeit panicked & for inflated fees in final week) but a manager is allowed to change their mind based on what he sees. If Woltemade/Wissa want to play, it's on them.

It would avoid VAR’s re refereeing the game and players would only refer to captain - captain to ref if they clearly felt decision was wrong ( ie - I didn’t touch player, I didn’t handle ball, I was fouled in box). If referee reviews and agrees with referral it is retained.

Var could be very easily fixed. Keep goal line technology, line decisions ( inside or outside of box) and allow the captain of each side 1 referral per half ( 2 in second half if first half referral not used) for captain to refer clear obvious error ( like cricket).
