I will always love Trent but 47 mill? Saying we will "rewrite the contract" really just means robbing Peter to give to Paul on a contract this large. He ain't taking a pay cut. Most they can do is convert to a signing bonus whereby they get an extra year to float dead cap. Oof.

With today’s 4 pm ET deadline looming, the 49ers are opting not to exercise the $10 million option bonus in Trent Williams’ contract, per sources. Williams’ salary cap number now will grow to close to $47 million, but the team is not overly concerned about it and it still is planning to rework his contract before next month’s NFL Draft.

There are Brian Davis days left before the 2026 NFL Draft.
Davis played 38 games for Washington... in the late 80s. He is best remembered for his 2 INTs in Super Bowl XXII.
Worthy of note... he was the last guy to tackle one of the most well known 34s ever... Walter Payton.
