Henry Ashton (Daeron) praises Sam Spruell (Maekar) for the read through of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’
“Sam Spruell. Who played my dad. I don't think I've ever been so sort of taken with someone at a read through before. We did read through, and he was so, like, so efficient. And you just couldn't take your eyes off him across from the table. And you could hear a pin drop around the table every time he started speaking. And he commanded this sort of power,”
“I think I learned from that, is that sometimes at read throughs, people feel a bit embarrassed and they don't want to act. Right? They don't want to, like, give it some beans. They want to just, like, sort of lean back in their chair and sort of read it and imagine there's those people as well. And, like, I understand that and I can. But he was, like, leaning across the table and he was just, like, chewing the words and was like, that's fucking cool. That, like, I'm gonna do that for now. Cause why not? Like you're there to hear the script, how it's written. The writers want to hear it. Fucking act. I mean, you don't have to start getting up and putting on a costume.”
