My heart aches at the passing of @FloridaState President Emeritus John Thrasher, a titan of Florida politics & great leader of my beloved university. Heaven gained a true public servant, leader, & family man today. To know Pres. Thrasher was to love him. johnthrashertribute.fsu.edu

Turned 55 today. 5 1/2 decades yet I feel I still know so little and have experienced a fraction of what life has to offer. With age comes wisdom that you have so little wisdom.

It was an honor to host @DrNealDunnFL2 for a visit to @FloridaState @FSUCOSSPP to engage with students & faculty. Congressman Neal spoke with passion about his work and welcomed further engagement with our great #FSU students & faculty. Thank you Dr. Dunn! #PolicyMatters

Had a great discussion today with Political Science professors and student leaders from @FloridaState. Florida has a bright future with young leaders like these guiding the way! Thank you Dean Chapin for the invitation.

Duke just came back to beat UNC after being down 20-0 at half time, winning 21-20 and taking The Victory Bell. My father (Duke BS Engineering ‘62) would have loved this. Shedding some tears over this one.

Dear FSU Family, I’m pleased to share that the Florida State University campus in Tallahassee sustained minimal damage from Hurricane Helene. As a result, we plan to resume classes and normal university operations on Monday, Sept. 30. We understand that some students, faculty, and staff may still be dealing with personal challenges or face difficulties returning to campus, and we will make accommodations and offer support for those in need. Over the weekend, we will continue to provide essential services, including dining, to students who remained on campus throughout the storm. Please visit alerts.fsu.edu for updates on hours of operation and other important information. Although our campus was spared the worst, we extend our deepest sympathies to the surrounding communities and other parts of Florida that were harder hit. We stand ready to support any students impacted by the storm. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to our dedicated Emergency Management team and the various university departments — FSU Police, Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities, Finance & Administration, Student Affairs, University Housing, Seminole Dining, Academic Affairs, Research, Communications, and others — who worked tirelessly to keep our campus safe and informed in the days leading up to and during the storm. Their collaboration with the National Weather Service and local partners, including the City of Tallahassee and Leon County, was crucial in our storm preparations. I’m also grateful for the flexibility of our faculty and staff and the resilience of our students and their families. Together, we weathered this challenge, and I look forward to resuming the important work that makes FSU one of the nation’s top universities. Thank you for your strength and for being a vital part of the FSU family. Go Noles! Sincerely, Richard McCullough President

Dear FSU Family, As Hurricane Helene approaches, I want to emphasize that the safety of every member of our campus community is my top priority. Florida State University officials have been closely monitoring conditions for several days, and we have taken every precaution to prepare for what is expected to be a major storm. Teams across campus have been working diligently to secure our facilities and provide essential services for our students in campus residence halls. Please make sure you have a plan to shelter in place throughout the storm and prepare for potential power outages. Stay informed by regularly refreshing alerts.fsu.edu for the latest updates and instructions. We will navigate this storm together, and our strength as a community will see us through. Take care and stay safe. Sincerely, Richard McCullough President, Florida State University

In Orlando for some @FloridaState @FSUCOSSPP fundraising & friendraising today. Am reminded by how lovely #TheBeautifulCity is. It has matured nicely over the years, invested in urbanism wisely, & has interesting buildings and public spaces. Joy to be connecting with ORL Noles.
