HomePro provides IBGs. FairTrades handles vetting, standards, and TrustMark accreditation. They work together but serve different purposes. Many installers use both.

FENSA, CERTASS, Assure — they let you self-certify glazing work meets building regs. But CPS membership comes with obligations, including providing an IBG. HomePro works directly with your scheme to process and send the policy to the homeowner. No extra admin for you.

The paperwork you hand a homeowner shapes their impression of your business. Contracts. Guarantees. Accreditation logos. Complaint procedures. One installer is redesigning all of his before April. That's not vanity, that is professionalism at point of sale.

Every IBG policy you register via HomePro will work towards gathering you reviews as part of the process. Your completed jobs build your review score without you lifting a finger. Reviews aren't vanity — they're evidence, and they help you win more work.

ECO4 closes to new applications after 31 March 2026. The private market takes over from April. Private customers expect financial protection. IBG and accreditation matter more from here.

You don't need employees to join FairTrades. Many members are sole traders or one-person companies. The vetting applies to the business and its director. Don't let the number of your employees hold you back.

With HomePro, you don't always need to issue IBG policies yourself. If you do Double Glazing, and self-certify with a CPS, then your CPS can pass job details to us. We process it and send the policy to the homeowner. You stay compliant without adding to your admin.

Too busy. Too much paperwork. Will do it next month are a few of the reasons we hear for not joining a Trade Association. Meanwhile, competitors get vetted and start building credibility. The paperwork takes less time than you think. The real cost is delay.

Do you legally need an IBG? It depends. Self-certifying glazing via FENSA or CERTASS — usually yes. Government-funded schemes — sometimes mandatory. Other trades — not always, but valuable even if not mandatory.

Can you pay FairTrades membership in instalments? 💬 Yes — FairTrades membership can be paid in two instalments collected every six months, or even four instalments. The upfront payment covers vetting. Once approved, the balance is collected in stages.

Your company guarantee and an IBG are not the same thing. Your guarantee is your commitment. The IBG underwrites it. If you cease trading, the IBG can step in subject to the policy terms and conditions. Two different things. Both matter.

You can't join TrustMark directly. You join through a Scheme Provider like FairTrades. Vetting, credit checks, document reviews, site inspections. It's not a badge you buy — there's a standard behind it.

Happy International Day of Awesomeness. A great review is awesome. A bad one handled well says a lot. But sometimes a homeowner says nothing — not because they are unhappy, but because the job was done right. And that is pretty awesome too. #InternationalDayOfAwesomeness

An IBG is a specialist insurance policy that underwrites your company guarantee. If your company ceases trading, it can step in - subject to the policy terms and conditions. It doesn't replace your guarantee — it supports it.

“How do I present an IBG to a homeowner?” Keep it simple: Include the Insurance Backed Guarantee in the contract price, don’t list it separately. At agreement: confirm the HomePro IBG, give the leaflet, register with HomePro. Simple. Clear. No confusion.

A roofer recently told us a customer asked him for an Insurance Backed Guarantee. He hadn’t heard much about them. He said he’d “look into it.” That conversation is happening more often. If you’re not ready for it, you risk losing control of the sale. homepro.com/join-homepro-n…
