What all of these arguments share in common is the defense of bad videogame writing as the only possible state of affairs. It's genuinely alienating

An incomprehensible position strictly driven by resentment—mind you, not of the aesthetic kind, as many gamers would love to believe, but of the "we lost the war on people's attention" kind.

@Tomgradep My thoughts exactly! In my experience, a lot of this content is extremely sex negative in its own right. Fanservice, far from confronting this ideology, is one of its clearest manifestations. Besides, sexual or not, I just think fanservice is terrible lol (the name says it all)

@UnderRealLife I see what you mean. I guess I'm used to the idea of accepting fanservice as the catch-all term through which anime tackles sexual content, which in and on itself carries serious connotations of how sexual content is handled in the first place.
