Police have confirmed that the death of Nhlamulo Sambo was not related to him being Tsonga in a Xhosa-speaking community, nor was it connected to marches against illegal immigrants. According to police, Sambo (19) and his friend (15) were allegedly caught stealing at a shack in Mossel Bay. During a chase by the shack owner, Sambo was stabbed and later died from his injuries. Police have further confirmed that both the victims and the suspects involved in the incident are South African citizens.
