Pittsburgh Pirates' starting pitcher Jared Jones struggled against the Athletics on Monday. Jones had a 13.3% swinging-strike rate and a 43% ball rate on Monday. That's worse control (38.5% ball rate) and a similar swinging-strike rate (14%) before Monday's outing. 🎮Jones has been commanding his pitches well, with a 108 Location+ with above-average stuff (101 Stuff+). Specifically, Jones's four-seam (111) and changeup (113) have been leading his arsenal from a Location+ standpoint. On Monday against the Athletics, he was locating his four-seamer in the upper parts toward his arm side with the changeups peppered low and below the zone. I would be buying low on Jones because he has been allowing tons of hits (.360 BABIP) and giving up home runs (18.2% HR/F). Jones's 3.94 xFIP and 3.93 SIERA point toward better skills and outcomes.
