A shameful and alarming incident has come to light in Nalanda district, Bihar. In a village under Noorsarai police station, three men allegedly attempted to gang-rape a married woman in public. When the woman raised an alarm, a crowd gathered, but the accused did not stop. They severely beat her, recorded videos, and circulated them on social media. Police have registered a case and arrested two of the accused, while one remains at large. The incident has sparked outrage across the region. The incident took place on March 26, 2026, but came to light only after the video went viral. Police have registered a case under Sections 74, 75, 76, 115(2), 126(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The arrested accused have been identified as Ashok Yadav, son of Pachu Yadav alias Puna Yadav, and Matlu Mahto alias Navneet Kumar Narottam, son of the late Harihar Mahto. Both are residents of Ajaypur village under Noorsarai police station in Nalanda district. They have been sent to judicial custody. According to the report, the survivor was living at her parents’ house. Between 6:00 and 7:00 pm on March 26, while she was returning from buying groceries, the three accused accosted her. When she resisted, they threw her to the ground, tore her clothes, attempted to rape her, assaulted her, and recorded the act. They then circulated the video on social media.
