@premnsikka I’ve worked for a KKR owned company- if they have pulled back from the deal….. the only option for new owners is government sanctioned criminality - the ability to pollute, kill, destroy anything & anybody with zero accountability or consequences

Private equity KKR pulled out of the deal to buy Thames Water. New bidders want licence to abuse; no fines for dumping sewage, unplugged leaks, causing harms What did their due diligence find? Cost borne by customers. The reports need to be made public. archive.ph/G9tsd

@EmmaforWycombe Whilst promoting ever-increasing resource take, incl. land. Gaslighting. Brainwashed by own growthist propagandising. Artemis II pics - proof, once again - it's a finite planet. Only fools aren't going to be able to understand what this means for economic policy. @BexleyLabour

BENEATH BRITISH WATERS Our Freshwater Planet
@EmmaforWycombe Yet millions of glass eels die each year needlessly. Did I mention that the European eel is classed as critically endangered. But we can ignore them as they are in freshwater.

We are out over Easter filming underwater in various rivers. Not fish sadly but pollution. Never imagined pollution filming would take up 50% of my time. But here we are. #pollution #rivers

🔴 This is NOT “action on pollution” The Environment Agency says water companies publishing “Pollution Incident Reduction Plans” will bring transparency and reduce pollution. That’s not what the law does. 📄 1. It mandates plans, not outcomes The Water (Special Measures) Act requires companies to produce plans. It does NOT: mandate specific reductions impose delivery timelines trigger automatic enforcement 👉 This is a reporting requirement, not a delivery mechanism. Source: legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2025/5/c… 💷 2. Delivery depends on Ofwat funding approvals Pollution reduction = infrastructure investment. That is controlled by Ofwat. No funding approval = no delivery. 👉 Plans do not override price controls. Source: commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-brief… ⚠️ 3. The system is already failing under existing law Parliament has already concluded: Environmental performance is “woeful” Regulators have failed to secure compliance 👉 More reporting does not fix enforcement failure. Source: committees.parliament.uk/publications/4… 🏗️ 4. The real constraint is infrastructure + incentives Ageing networks Massive investment gap High debt burdens Regulatory model that constrained spending 👉 This is a structural problem, not a planning problem. 🧭 5. Government policy confirms this is managed reform The current model prioritises: investor confidence regulatory redesign private capital 👉 Not structural change to the system that produced the problem. Source: gov.uk/government/pub… ⚠️ Bottom line This is being presented as pollution action. It is not. 👉 It is transparency without enforceable delivery ✅ What would actually work Make pollution reduction targets legally binding with deadlines Link every plan to approved, ringfenced funding Trigger automatic regulatory penalties or intervention if delivery fails Without that, this remains paperwork, not reform.

Today water companies must publish their Pollution Incident Reduction Plans. Under the Water (Special Measures) Act, these plans must show how companies will reduce pollution and its impact – bringing greater transparency to their actions and progress.

Guide for MPs, advisers, NGOs and campaigners on nationalising Thames Water before Special Administration (SAR) and preshaping SAR if inevitable. • SAR is not nationalisation • decision point is before SAR • preshape SAR for public ownership waterwaysprotection.org/thames-water-n…

@premnsikka Cling? They’re fighting tooth and nail. Months before the election the PM will play the SAR card. Most will think it’s nationalisation. It isn’t. A few months later that reality lands.

Sewage dumped into England’s rivers/seas 291,492 times last year. Boosted company profits. Execs rewarded , dividends paid, customers fleeced, biodiversity; marine life, human health endangered. Fines not paid or waived. Govts cling to privatisation. theguardian.com/environment/20…

@premnsikka Lord Sikka, have you looked into some MPs who got circa £1m in pro bono legal support privately to try & force Thames Water into administration/ being nationalised & their investment companies links to advising Asian companies on water firms…? @BomberMorgan

China billionaire owner of Northumbrian Water wants to bid for Thames Water. NW has 50+ criminal convictions, dumps sewage in rivers, fleeces customers. 90% of England's water is foreign owned. More of the same can't solve problems. Must nationalise. theguardian.com/business/2026/…

This 👇 special administration (SAR) functions as a backdoor bailout for legacy investors who extracted value and lost control. NGOs promoting this instead of full legislative nationalisation are, at best, misguided and, at worst, protecting the status quo.

‘A national scandal’: trawlers scour seabeds of ‘protected’ UK waters. Didn’t the PM promise Sir David Attenborough that he would put a stop to this last year? We don’t need to allow this, it’s a choice, and a very bad one. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Raw sewage (over 3.5ml cubic feet) being discharged daily into the Wadi Gaza 🇵🇸 stream Due to 🇮🇱 destroying sanitation infrastructure & blocking fuel needed for pumping stations It’s all part of the genocide The world needs to isolate 🇮🇱 now.

@Nigel_Farage Quick update: Nigel Farage has confirmed no plan and no action on water. If you care about this country, why back someone who won’t defend it from pollution and extraction? Is that really leadership?
