🚨 Rico Verhoeven announces he is vacating his GLORY Kickboxing heavyweight title after holding it for 12 years 👀 “After more than twelve years, fifteen world title victories, and countless unforgettable nights, I’ve decided to vacate my GLORY Heavyweight World Title. I joined GLORY in 2012, and from that moment on, I gave everything to this sport and to the organisation. Together, we built something truly special sold out arenas, broke records, gave fans incredible fights and moments that helped shape the history of kickboxing. I want to give a special acknowledgment to the dedicated people within GLORY who work tirelessly behind the scenes to bring such a strong product to the world. Most of them remain unseen, but their passion is what keeps this sport alive and growing. I see you, and I’ve told many of you personally how much I value the way you carry kickboxing forward with heart, respect, and purpose. A special thank you to Pierre Andurand for his vision and the immense investment he’s made in kickboxing over the years. Without that commitment, none of this would have been possible. To all the fans who’ve been part of this incredible journey.... Thank you for the memories, the energy, and the respect. It’s not a goodbye, it’s an “until we meet again.” OSU” (via @RicoVerhoeven)

Lastly, I want to end by thanking Jake, Nakisa, and the entire MVP team for the opportunity to showcase my skills on their platform. Being part of MVP allowed me to perform on big stages, gain valuable experience, and grow as a fighter. I’ve never taken that for granted and I’ll always be proud of what we accomplished together. That experience will always be a part of my journey. To be clear none of what I’ve said in recent days comes from a place of bitterness. This was never about tearing anyone down. It’s about clearing up misconceptions and telling the full story from my side, truthfully and respectfully. The people at MVP know I’ve never lied. I’ve always stood on facts, and I believe the fans deserve to hear the truth all of it. Even with all the changes, I continue to support Jake, Nakisa, and MVP. They’re doing great things over there, and I’ll never knock that. Jake is having a strong career, and MVP as a team has made a real impact in the sport. I respect it, I support it, and I wish them nothing but continued success. At the same time, I know this is a season where I have to refocus on my own vision. Before I signed with MVP, I had already started laying the foundation for something of my own and it’s time to return to that. I’ve relaunched H2O Promotions as Tsunami Promotions, with the mission of pushing fighters forward and creating new opportunities. I’ve already helped support fighters like Sincere Brooks, Jaivion Cardinal, Alex “AlleyKat” Gueche, Tayden Beltran, Shea Green, and others and I plan to keep building that movement. I’ve always wanted to create something for fighters, by a fighter. That mission hasn’t changed it’s just been renewed. And while I may not have always gotten the credit for the work I’ve done behind the scenes, the people who have followed me from the start know what I’ve built and how early I started doing it. This next chapter is about continuing that journey. I’ll keep building, growing, and helping others along the way. And if it’s in God’s plan, I would love to reconnect or collaborate with them in the future whether on events, projects, or something new. That door is always open on my side. I’m grateful for everything. I’m focused on what’s next. And I’m trusting God through every step.

I saw MVP’s statement. Appreciate the recognition, but let’s be real that statement was misleading. I was the first male boxer signed to MVP. Helped build the brand from day one when they were just advisors, not promoters. I didn’t “pursue” other promoters. I was approached and brought it back to the team like a pro. I stayed loyal, even when better offers came in. After my first loss, I was promised a rematch and more. Then MVP became a full promo company out of nowhere. I asked for a meeting to talk about the future. Never got it. What I did get was a release. No convo. No offer. Just a release. I’ve always kept it honest and respectful. If that rubbed people the wrong way, that’s not on me. Wishing them the best, but the full story matters. I’m focused on what’s next.

The way MVP handled this doesn’t sit right. I helped build that platform when people still saw it as influencer boxing. I was the first real prospect they signed. I gave Lucas Bahdi a shot after my original opponent Floyd Schofield got injured. I didn’t duck. I stepped up. Now MVP and Bahdi won’t even consider a rematch. Just clips of my loss on repeat while others get protected. I unfollowed because I couldn’t keep watching it. Thought Jake was my brother. Thought MVP was my team. Instead of support, I got a release letter. No call. No convo. Just cut. Still training. Still sharp. Still ready to fight.

Seen a sign today that said “Blue Gillys” That’s a sign for this weekend. Poirier is in the blue corner & his submission of choice is the guillotine. It’s written in the stars. Your win is cemented. @DustinPoirier
