The National Weather Service is projecting the southern portion of Wright County to be in a Category 3 level for severe weather this afternoon - a designation normally associated with summer storms. The worst of the storm is expected between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service is advising that a storm system Monday will be accompanied by high winds and the potential for hail and a slight risk for tornadoes. Nothing is guaranteed with this storm, but you may want to keep your weather app of choice available Monday afternoon.

Wright County is on the fringe of a storm system that could impact travel to the north this weekend. There are expected to be two rounds to this storm - the first coming through this afternoon and more precipitation coming starting around sunset.

A Message from the Minnesota Department of Transportation: An update has been provided to MnDOT by the construction manager on the Hwy. 25 project between Buffalo and Monticello. Phase 1 will begin Monday, April 13 and the posted detour will take effect Saturday, April 18.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Saturday, March 28 for 77 Minnesota counties, including Wright County. The combination of high winds, low humidity raises the potential the fires could spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended for Saturday.
