The situation at South Carolina State further proves my theory that the main pillars of the Black community: The Church, HBCUs, Organizations.. are under direct attack from the extreme right wing.

I also want to note that your insurance company WILL want and use this information. If they have any inkling that you text and drive or were driving while “impaired”, they will put that burden on you and refuse to pay for whatever damages associated.

So. If you are in ANY emergency situation — let’s say you park in your driveway, & only as you begin taking your groceries from the car, you see movement in your home that is supposed to be empty. And a broken window. You cannot drive away to somewhere safer to get help. Your car refuses. You are at a traffic light. Suddenly someone is trying to get into your car (this has happened to me). You have a split second to accelerate & leave him in the dust. Your car shuts down power. The school calls. Your daughter has fainted. You cannot drive to the school to pick her up because your car notices your eyes are wide & you’re breathing fast. Your car now controls whether you live or die in an emergency situation. And those controls cannot be overridden.

Mariah’s pen is prolific, imo. Clear, full of emotion, so poetic but not abstract in a contrived way. You don’t realize how hard that is to do because of how simple it sounds, but that’s just how good she is

I will never understand how so many of y’all were hoodwinked into believing the government should not use the money you pay in taxes to create a social safety net that benefits you, fund public healthcare, lower housing costs, and make daily life more affordable.

I miss the world before AI more than I miss the world before the pandemic. I hate what it’s doing to publishing, job markets, schooling, and the internet. It’s made people question every piece of content they see. I’m tired of reading about it, seeing it, or thinking about it.

I saw an instagram video for hills for ATL and yall was running down Peachtree in the street!! With cars going by! No police directing traffic or nothing!! A PI attorney’s dream lol like yall making conditions unsafe as hell

Call me a prude but I want these run clubs to have better safety protocols cuz there is no way it’s safe for 1000 ppl to be running down Peachtree all in the street the way yall do. They block off roads for races for a reason.

Fame is not normal and it robs you of your experience of just being a person. You can’t do anything without being under a microscope and I think that’s looney toons. You don’t need to idolize people to the point that they’re a spectacle everywhere they go that’s so weird

Hard agree. I'm so glad my mom had me listening to Anita Baker and Luther Vandross as a kid.
I refuse to listen to "kids" music in the car. You are going to get this Phil Colins and Tyler the Creator.

I blame the parents. A part of childhood should be spent watching your dad's favorite violent movies & suffering through your mom's favorite songs in the car. That's how a living cultural memory is transmitted -- not via a perpetual bubble of age-appropriate content.

My generation is focused on avoiding the experience of embarrassment to the point where it doesn’t make sense. They also don’t seem to grasp that feelings of embarrassment pass and that they don’t define you beyond that moment.

We’ve lost the art of just being like “hey man that was kinda uncool.” Everything has to be the biggest deal ever and people have to be groveling begging for forgiveness and apologizing profusely for every little thing. Sometimes a “yeah that was uncool my fault guys” is enough
