I am gobsmacked. I just found this review from last week. I laughed off one like this from the US on Rewind over 10 years ago but am finding it hard to laugh this one off. "This book has all the premise of a compelling mystery that can only be solved by working out a puzzle, but instead becomes a long drawn out mess. Whether intended or not, you could be forgiven for coming to the conclusion that the author dislikes women, with male characters blaming women for their own murders, and for the most part seeming like objects of desire that are just unreachable. I sense a difficult relationship with women, with the men being helpless to desire because the women simply existed, which makes the women evil in the author’s eyes. It comes across as misogynistic. The writing is of poor quality and often contradictory which may be an editing issue, but it seems to lack the awareness of what a reader would want. Do I need to read the complete rules of shuffleboard?
