He then went over as he was coming back onto the chute. He'd just retired but then in a minute or two he was gone. "He was such a lovely little horse and it wasn't the ending we wanted. He's been an incredible servant and just wonderful over the years. It's such a sad way to go."

Honestly Gold Cup Day is one of my favourite racing days of the year. Hopefully we can end what has been a great week. PROACTIF has been a bit uneasy in the betting but I'm not letting that put me off. I loved the way he won on debut for this yard. He still looked rough around the edges so should improve bundles. On that form line stablemate MACHO MAN should run well too as he can definitely take a step forward as well. Selma De Vary is feared and both Minella Study and Maestro Conti look smart so it should be a great race. The Skelton team have a lot of momentum in these handicaps so keen to keep SINNATRA on side. His form stacks up against the likes of Captain Hugo and Act Of Innocence and he has won 2 of his last 3 so confidence will be high. He could have a fair bit in hand off this mark and I'm expecting a big run. MURCIA has taken a big drift but I don't really know why as she is versatile regarding the ground and caught the eye in defeat at the Dublin Racing Festival and looks good value to at least hit the frame here. There seems to be a lot of confidence behind PANIC ATTACK and it is easy to see why given her form. She might be a 10yo but she is eyeing up a four-timer and has looked better than ever this season. This trip suits her well and I can see her proving too strong for Dinoblue and she is a bigger price. Spindleberry is smart and July Flower is capable too though so it is definitely more open than the betting is suggesting. Both my bets for the Albert Bartlett are drifting so just hoping for the best here. There is often upsets in this though looking at recent years so don't lose the faith. KAZANSKY was behind Doctor Steinberg at Leopardstown but is entitled to improve again from that and I can see this stiff finish suiting. He definitely has more to come and is a crazy price considering. I also like JALON D'OUDAIRIES who should keep galloping when the taps are turned on and as a progressive profile. It's the big one now and I'm confident GAELIC WARRIOR will go close. He is a five-time Grade 1 winner so has tons of class and he has done little wrong this season. He won on return beating stablemate Fact To File and then went down a whisker in the King George. I never felt like he travelled that day so this softer ground will suit as will the track as one of his best performances came in the Arkle a couple of years ago. I can see him peaking here and while he has been well found in the market now I make him the one to beat. INOTHEWAYURTHINKIN was so impressive in this last year so I have to have a saver on him again just like I did 12 months ago. He has been woefully out of form but it really wouldn't be a surprise to see him spring back into life as he is 2-2 at this track. I can't get away from KEL HISTOIRE here for Mullins. He has run twice over 2 miles this season in deep ground so now stepping out to 2 and a half miles handicapping for the first time he looks just the type to burst into life. Obviously the yard have done well in this race and the market is taking no chances with him but I think that is with good reason. Given the amount of places on offer I've also backed EAST INDIA EXPRESS who I can see running well for Henderson. Freddie Gordon is in the saddle and this horse ran a big race in defeat at Windsor. He has form at Cheltenham and on his best would definitely be involved. I always have to cover a Gordon Elliott horse in the Martin Pipe too and WENDROCK looks sure to go well. He was pulled up last time but if you put a line through that he could be more than capable off this mark.
