I work in a big4, and one of my Partners is my age mate at 34 without a university degree. When i just started my career, the newly appointed minister for power, JT, was a Senior Partner and we would call him by his first name or at best by his nickname. He would not let you call him Sir even though you are way younger. You’ll see this phenomenon alot in big4s and you must learn to collaborate and humble yourself to learn. Age should not be your concern when you’re working with extremely smart people. It is the impact you make that will matter most

Sending your children to school is not a retirement plan. It is parenting. It is your responsibility. The fact that you trained them does not mean they owe you their salary for the rest of your life. They did not ask to be born. You made that decision.

I started my investment journey in 2021 with N10k in AIICO. Today I still put every 20k i can find into the market and my portfolio is smiling. Don’t let anyone discourage you from starting small. The market needs consistency, discipline and research. Compounding will do the rest.

Every time you buy or sell shares on NGX, you pay at least 6 different charges and taxes on the amount you are buying or selling. ~ NGX Fee: 0.3% ~ CSCS Fee: 0.3% ~ Trade alert fee: N4 ~ Brokerage Fee: 1% - 1.35% ~ Sec Fee - 0.3% ~ Stamp duty: 0.08% ~ VAT: 7.5% on the above charges ~ When you receive dividends you pay 10% withholding tax. ~ When you make gain from the investment, you pay additional capital gains tax of 0% to 25% based on your income bracket. Do you think that charges and taxes are excessive?

The kind of work I did yesterday made me rethink my choice of Nursing. Financial freedom and retirement early is non negotiable. I woke up this morning like they pounded yam on my body 😂

@compoundinnaira People tend to be in denial of the power of compounding and consistency. You’re the literal evidence of everything that we preach about. Who get ear make he ear.

Compounding Naira

What’s the purpose of your post exactly? To tell your followers not to plan for their future or invest? Your post is also missing a lot of info, for starters, over the 6+ years I have been investing, I have been paid more than ₦9,000,000 in dividends, assuming all of that went back into the portfolio, the ₦35m you claim I have deposited drops to ₦26m. Secondly, if you factor in all the profits from stocks I have sold along the way and put the money into stocks that I still holding today, it will further reduce the ₦26m. Additionally, in 2024 or so, I practically sold all of my UCAP and WAPCO holdings because I needed emergency money. They were sold for more than ₦5m and I withdrew all that money to fix emergencies. When I eventually started adding back funds, the portfolio did not account for that withdrawal. You’re free to post anything sha, all na content I guess.
Man of Letters.@Letter_to_Jack

He started in August 2020 and has deposited N35 million in investment between then and now (68 months). That’s an average of ₦514,706 investment in stocks per month. Meaning their income must have been north of N2m monthly on average over the 6-year period. I pity anyone who would run themselves to the ground because they want to be like this person because they saw N50k first deposit. Can you see the part of the story that is missing?

If you’re working 9 to 5 and cannot save anything at the end of the month, you’re not alone. What will differentiate you is whether you upskill, take a side hustle, find a new Job, cut expenses, build your network, and shamelessly market yourself. Growing wealth is possible. Be stubborn about it.

You think you’re not an investor because you don’t buy stocks. Not all investors use apps. Some open their shop every morning. If your business pays you consistently, you are not just working you are holding a cash-flowing asset. That your business that generates cash flow daily or weekly is also an investment.

That's why I am glad in am in this X Finance community. When I see people earning 1m, 6m, 11m, 14m alone in dividends When I see people's 100M portfolio When I people investing 50%, 60% of their monthly income I can't help but be pressured to do more. Is the pressure touching you too?

Those 70% - 400% returns you’re getting on NGX are unusual. The market is simply repricing the impact of the degradation experienced by our economy and currency in the last decade. Soon markets will stabilise to the typical 10% - 30% annual return. Don’t start investing expecting such huge returns forever, however by all means grab this bonanza while it lasts.
