No. AGI has not been achieved. The moving of goalposts just so folks can pretend they’ve achieved something they haven’t is astounding. It’s a shame, really. All of these so-called AI professionals are proving they don’t know what they’re talking about. Either that, or they’re being intentionally deceitful and immoral just to boost their revenue and appease shareholders. i know it sounds a little depressing, but hear me out. i was having this convo with my friend yesterday and it got me thinking. so i sat down and actually did the math on how much time i have left with my parents like properly. i'm 27 in blr, mom and dad are both ~50-52 in my hometown average life expectancy in india is around 70-74 yrs. so they roughly have 24 yrs ahead. i go home twice a year. 10 days each time. that's 20 days a year. real quality time stuff like meals together, evening chats - maybe 6 hours a day total 20 × 6 = 120h a year daily calls tbh around like 10 min 365 × 0.17 = 62h a year from calls total: 120 + 62 = 182 hours a year 24 years × 182 hours = 4,368 hours. total. that's everything. that's roughly like 182 days. less than 6 months of actual time. sorry, i'm not sharing this to make anyone sad. things probably I'll try to fix from my side - one extra trip home. calls that go 20 minutes instead of 10. I think we spend so much energy optimizing everything else in our lives. maybe this deserves a little of that energy too. people might say this is depressing. you can make anything depressing if you calculate it this way. i just think some numbers are worth sitting with for a minute this is just one perspective, and every family situation is different. but this was enough to make me pick up the phone more often. my math might be a completely off or may be stupid tbh. but it was enough to shake me. hope it does the same for you
