Two thousand years ago, Jesus ended the debate on which lives matter. He died for all.

@gregstier They were man-centered, self-sufficient, & had lost sight of what really mattered. They were physically rich (buildings, lights, programs) but spiritually poor (losing sight of what really matters). Like our churches in America, they were trying to do Christianity without Christ.

In your opinion, which of the 7 churches in the book of Revelation represent the evangelical church in America the most today and why? #JustWondering

@gregstier Many of the churches are represented, but Laodicea especially comes to my mind. Laodicea equated material prosperity with spiritual well-being. (Prosperity gospel isn’t new) Their materialism had blinded them to their daily need to depend on Christ.

@ZachMaldo I would propose that everything in the Bible is for us (2 Timothy 3:16-17) but not everything is directly to us. Romans 15:4, 1 Corinthians 10:11

The entire Bible is the inspired Word of God. But not everything written in the Old Testament was for you or is describing you.

We must resist legalism (performance for Christ) and embrace relationship (walking with Christ).

There is a danger in basing our spiritual health on actions apart from attitude. One emphasizes external conformity whereas the other comes from an internal transformation that only the Lord can provide.

If your hope is not in this world, you can live with an out-of-this-world type of hope.

The gospel is not a work for God. It’s a work by God. It’s not something you achieve, it’s something you receive. The gospel is not something you “do” - it’s something that is “done.”

The gospel is not about a process, it’s about a person. It’s not a method, it’s a message. It’s not a feeling, it’s a fact. Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again on the third day. Do you believe in Him?

The gospel is not something you experience, it’s something Christ accomplished.
