I urge the Federal Government to consider mandating that all federal civil servants wear authentic Nigerian cultural attire on Friday. It should be compulsory, and the Federal Government could give a small clothing allowance to all its workers. It would boost the economy, as the money would be spent in Nigeria on made-in-Nigeria fabric and fashion, putting pressure on the Naira upwards. It would also boost our sense of self-esteem. When we see how good we look in our native outfits, we will be less likely to spend the $4 billion we currently spend annually importing Western and Arabian clothes. And that $4 billion will not be depleted from our foreign reserve.
