While headlines focused on geopolitics, the infrastructure layer kept proving its strength 🫳
→ Bitcoin network health stays robust with 24K+ nodes and strong hashrate
→ Lawmakers move to protect blockchain developers building open tools
→ Miner capitulation shows signs of ending as rigs return online
→ Europe positions for regulated crypto growth

The biggest AI shift in 2026 isn’t bigger models. It’s specialized ones.
One model for everything worked in 2022.
But production systems now optimise for different priorities:
• Reasoning for critical logic
• Speed for real-time apps
• Cost efficiency for agents
• Massive context for codebases
The real stack is multi-model orchestration.

Some years back, the outputs of LLMs for complex tasks were mid at best. ✅
Goodnews?
They’ve progressed faster and can now handle complex software engineering tasks.
As a Bitcoin developer in 2026, you need to have the right toolset of specialize agents for your operations.
📍 High-stakes Agents
Some tasks require an enormous amount of speciality and accuracy. For example, hunting criticals on a cross-chain protocol with 20k SLOC is a lot of work.
Therefore, in this case you need the 'brains' from AI models optimised for precision, reasoning, and deep understanding.
Per data, Opus 4.6 is seeming to be one of the most performing models in this context.
📍 Speed Agents
Capacity is a good feature, but speed is sometimes more important; it’s better when a model has capacity and is speedy.
Any model that hallucinates or takes long to output answers becomes counter-productive, and this is where speed matters as well.
According to data from Artificial Analysis, the gpt-oss family, both 20B and 120B, are the current speed champions with an OTPS of 311 and 307 respectively.
Following closely are Gemini 3 Flash and Nemotron 3 Nano, each with 207 OTPS.
Many Bitfinity builders are shipping faster with these models.
Which one is your best at the moment?🤔

🗞️ Freshly minted: Bitfinity Weekly Built to Use 🗞️
While timelines chased headlines, the infrastructure layer kept compounding:
→ Custody firms and infra IPOs signaled scale ready Bitcoin rails
→ Lightning native USD credit pushed real institutional settlement
→ Offline phishing campaigns reminded users: security is constant
→ Institutions leaned deeper into DeFi, tokenization, and multichain stacks
→ ICP’s “Mission 70” shifted focus from issuance to real usage
Less issuance. More utilization.

With where quantum computing is heading, soon enough, Bitcoin private keys can be derived from public keys.
This is why some concerned Bitcoiners are proposing BIP360 to make Bitcoin more prepared for the future. 🌐
What are the key updates in this proposal?👇
The main innovation of this proposal is a new output type called the Pay-to-Merkle-Root design.
The innovation of P2MR is how it computes output to the root of a script’s merkle root without commiting to an internal key.
That is, it doesn’t have any key path spend.
The P2MR design is, however, not infallible. The researchers agree it is still vulnerable to short exposure attacks.
🗣️ While the Bitcoin community is concerned with quantum threat, Bitfinity is bringing the quantum-safety of Ethereum to Bitcoin developers.

2026 isn’t about hiding.
It’s about proving without revealing. 🔓
If early crypto chased anonymity, 2026 builds compliant privacy.
Zero-knowledge moved to production, zkVMs went live, MPC secured institutions, and FHE pushed encrypted compute closer to reality. From mixers to rule level compliance, privacy matured. 🌐
Selective disclosure. Auditable systems. Protocol-level logic.
Privacy isn’t a loophole anymore. It’s infrastructure.

Bitcoin wasn’t born in 2008. It was forged over 50 years.
From public key cryptography and digital signatures to cypherpunks, proof of work, and peer-to-peer networks Bitcoin is the sum of 11 revolutionary ideas.🌐
No single genius. No overnight miracle.
Just decades of code, conviction, and resistance.
The bricks that built Bitcoin.

2025 was quite a year for the Bitcoin ecosystem with so much wins and lessons to learn.⚡️
@epochvc published a report on the ecosystem that every builder should read for better perception.
📣 Here are the main points you should know from the report:
📍Bitcoin L2s Should Focus on Applications over Infra
The report uses Lightning as a major case study; highlighting how Bitcoin podcasters are discussing it, but it’s not significantly adopted in the market.
A problem that was largely attributed to its positioning.
The market, according to the report, doesn’t understand “L2 scaling solutions,” but gets “Bitcoin that works like Venmo!”
For Bitcoin app and chain builders, 2026 should be a year to focus more on consumer-centric utility and positioning.
📍 Quantum Computing Risk to Bitcoin
One core secret behind Bitcoin’s security is the nearly impossible computational power required to break its algorithm.
This was an imminent threat in 2025, and many researchers are looking into the ways out.
Currently, there are propositions around contingency plans to salvage the situation if quantum indeed breaks Bitcoin.
Having read all this, what are your forecast for the ecosystem this year?

Crypto’s next phase isn’t disruption. It’s integration.
Built quietly, tested cautiously, and shaped by institutions that care more about custody, compliance, and infrastructure than headlines.
👉 From private Bitcoin access at global banks to sustained hash rate security, identity upgrades, and mobile-first Web3 experiences, the pattern is consistent: make crypto usable without losing its edge.
This isn’t speculative energy. It’s operational maturity.
Less noise. More trust. More everyday relevance.
