Caps fans having a meltdown about not making the playoffs despite their regulation wins makes me think about how incredible it is that the Capitals have advanced past the second round of the playoffs one time in the Ovechkin era. One time. Amazing, given the teams they've had.

I type this with all the respect in the world for #AllCaps Ovechkin but he has certainly been on the wrong side of the #NYR rivalry since like 2011. Still the greatest goal scorer. Still has 46 goals in reg. season vs NYR. Lost to NYR in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2024. When was the last meaningful reg. season game the Caps won vs NYR?

The numbers suggested that Faulk was a player who can do some stuff with the puck himself, but hinders his linemates' offence when he's on the ice. That's basically what happened down the stretch; him and his partner Chiarot now both have 0th percentile xGF impacts
