Morning folks! So we are considering doing a version of Valen without the birthmark/vitiligo, based on your feedback of late. While we have no plans to do the same for the girls, Valen was originally designed without the face mark. It was added later to conceal a mold imperfection… something we now feel was the wrong approach. Lemme know what you think. #smartdoll

We are working on a school uniform for our classic girls. What number fabric you want for the skirt and ribbon? The ribbon can also be different from the skirt. The big sample at the top is number 6. They didn't have anything in slot 8. #smartdoll

After 40 minutes of grim destruction porn, imagery that evoked 9/11 on steroids where countless thousands of innocent civilians undoubtedly died, and placing Superman in the heartbreaking position of having to kill Zod… Did Man of Steel have the most unearned happy ending ever?

As part of the Cortex 2 project, we’ve been exploring ways to bring a more sculpted, figurine-like aesthetic to Smart Doll hair. Our early prototypes didn’t look great—but they laid the groundwork for what you see here: the latest version of our first sculpted Cypla (Cyber+Plastic) Hair design. Cypla Hair should be much easier to manage during outdoor photography—especially on windy days. And if we get the production method right, it could open the door to more extreme anime hairstyles that normally defy physics ;-) We’re still in the prototyping phase, and one of the key challenges is the sharpness of the hair strands. We’re currently testing how much we can round off the tips while maintaining the overall silhouette. At this stage, the strands are quite sharp, which raises concerns around product safety. We’re considering electroplating this version next. The process introduces minor shrinkage, which could help naturally blunt the sharper points. But safety remains a top priority—we want this to be suitable for folks of all ages. If you’re into Gunpla, you might know that many antenna designs include a “flag” at the tip to prevent injury—though many builders snip them off later. We’ve considered a similar approach, but given how many strands are involved, it may not be practical - but it could be an interesting cybernetic aesthetic... Using soft-grade sofubi is another possibility—it may allow the strands to flex rather than stab. But this introduces its own challenges: gravity, centrifugal force, and air bubble accumulation all affect how viable the mold is. We’ll likely need to experiment with multiple mold iterations before we land on a version that works for production. This design was originally developed for Cortex 2, but so far, it’s also been tested to fit the Mirai, Kanata, and G07 heads. Are there any anime characters with hairstyles you’d love to see in Cypla Hair form—especially those that are difficult (or nearly impossible) to achieve with fiber wigs? Unless you’ve got the space, I wouldn’t recommend getting a Smart Doll Plus—they take up quite a bit of room, especially in a small apartment like ours. And yes—just like their mini counterparts, they can now stand without the aid of a support stand ;-) #smartdoll
