This is a good point re: $MNRO. The class c preferred stock goes away in August based on the 3 year anniversary of the agreement made in August 2023. So we have: 1. Icahn's 17% stake 2. CEO who is a turnaround expert that joins companies to fix and sell them not run them for 5+ years 3. Ceo made large stock purchase at prices 25% higher than here last month, which if nothing else shows he is confident in the turnaround and he's very much aligned with shareholders 4. Controlling board member/shareholder loses control in 5 months. 5. Poison pill expires in 8 months 6. This is not a distressed company, they pay a regular dividend supported by healthy cash flow (cash flow that clearly makes them attractive to a buyer) 7. CEO has taken decisive action selling real estate for cash and closing underperforming locations. This isn't a company where an entrenched mgt pays lip service to making changes but doesn't actually do anything and just bides time cashing paychecks and bonuses. I would have liked this setup at $23 last month but I love it here at $15.

@RuxandraTeslo Not even remotely the same thing. MAID Is getting exactly what you paid for. Experimental treatments is hoping for a certain outcome while taking on a risk that the outcome may be worse than if you had done nothing at all. Regulation is normal in that circumstance.

I have a curiosity: why is it the case that it is easier to get MAID in Canada than it is to access experimental treatments which carry a higher risk? In the past, I used to think ppl do not like "deaths caused by the medical system", but for MAID the prob of death is 100%...

Why are software stocks going crazy? "AI disruption" - yes, but I also think the seat-based SaaS model is starting to crack because of that disruption. Seat pricing assumes a named human paying every month. But agents don’t look like that. They spin up in parallel, do the work, and disappear. Dozens or hundreds at a time. On recent earnings calls, you can hear the tension. Workday’s President of Product and Technology Gerrit Kazmaier said it plainly: the "Seat-based model definitely is going to change in certain domains." As a new bitcoiner is the bull case? 1. Limited supply results in gains as fiat currency is printed in excess of what is necessary to support the economy (store of value) 2. Use as a medium of exchange for real world transactions 3. Way for emerging market and other unbanked people to hold something besides their local currency It seems to me 1 is true of a lot of things and moves in fads 2. Seems awful for this purpose relative to other forms both fiat and stable. 3, seems literally fully replaced by stable coins. Whats the value proposition?
