Very excited for this to be finally coming out! A pretty profound result in my mind. Practicing a range of undesired outcomes (ie that would lead to “outs” in a baseball game) is better for skill acquisition than repeatedly practicing producing a desired outcome.

@brianmccormick Far from an expert, but it seems like the refereeing in Europe is more “rugged” (much more tolerant of contact, especially near the rim). Thus, scorers can’t rely on consistent freebies from the foul line, which = more offensively creative bigs and better shooters.

Americans perceptions of European basketball is so far from the reality.
Every country & level is different, but many are much quicker to give players technicals for any dissension toward referees, and the European game, as a whole, is much more physical than the NBA.
