I recently read Refactoring UI and found it to be a very practical, hands-on guide for developers aiming to boost their design skills. I've been working on this for the past few years with mixed results 😄, but I always appreciate resources like this one! refactoringui.com

the experience with emojis differs across OS, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but controlling emoji rendering is tough --even with the "emoji font stack", they sometimes still render as glyphs.

@GergelyOrosz @EngGuidebook In spanish (I think mostly in South America because Spain is a bit more tied to their spanish words) we use those "spanglish" words a lot, particularly verbs like Commitear (to commit) or Pushear (to push).

Interesting to see how much English tech vocabulary leaks into other languages & gets adopted. I'm translating @EngGuidebook into Hungarian (working w a publisher). It's an interesting challenge whether to translate something where most Hungarian devs just use the English word.

During the last few days, I've been documenting some of my opinions on running software projects. Nothing particularly new, and I will probably keep adding to the article, but it was good exercise. Curious to read yours! codecoolture.com/notes/opinions/

@cubanducko Depende... a mí estar en Twitter se me hace insufrible con las tonterías de Elon. Paso de contribuir. Mi uso de esta red se limita a contenido de software/tecnología, y parece que ese es el nicho que hay en Mastodon, así que 👌😂

@codecoolture Merece la pena? A priori parecía una red muy de nicho (que puede estar bien)

Actually, I only sometimes look at pull requests looking for bugs. Instead, I look for how easy it would be for the implementation to change if something is wrong and how easy it would be to find the faulty implementation (does the code have tests? is the code easy to observe?)

Yeah, maybe I misunderstand code reviews, but for me, they have always been more about learning than quality. Of course, I saw times when the code review helped to find a bug or a faulty implementation, but they were always more helpful in spreading knowledge.
Gergely Orosz@GergelyOrosz

There’s already a wave of dev tools startups building AI-assisted code reviews. While it’s clear that such tools can (and will) serve as improved linters, their pitch misses an important thing about code reviews: How code reviews spread knowledge about the code across the team.
