According to the allegations, legal pressure was mounted in an attempt to compel the streaming platform Netflix to remove or restrict the production- moves that ultimately did not succeed. The Special Tribunal is said to have ruled that their company unlawfully benefited from Covid-19 personal protective equipment contracts awarded during the height of the pandemic. Katleho Mokonyane is described in these reports as the daughter of senior ANC figure Nomvula Mokonyane, adding a politically charged dimension to the already explosive allegations. In a scathing finding quoted in the report, the court is said to have ruled the contracts “invalid and void,” concluding that the parties involved acted “fraudulently, dishonestly and/or improperly.” The repayment order reportedly covers more than R13 million for medical jumpsuits and over R1 million for surgical masks, funds drawn from public coffers during one of the most vulnerable periods in the country’s recent history. Despite the ruling, the pair are said to be contesting the decision, arguing that the goods were delivered and used, and therefore the state should not reclaim funds after benefiting from the supplies. A separate source insisted, “People are however mixing personal history with legal outcomes.
