@cotereb I don’t feel that strongly about the movie itself, I just find the way people are talking about movies on here too reductive and terminally online for me to even comprehend, which isn’t at all exclusive to this movie

Having finally seen the movie it’s hilarious how cynical the discourse around it has been on here, like I genuinely have no idea what people are talking about when they say shit like “epic bacon reddit millennial slop”, do they hear themselves?

James Mangold is a great director on a terrific run but I sure would love to see him do another dirty-ass picture like COP LAND again. A bummer it's so hard for a film like this, or LONE STAR / ONE FALSE MOVE / CLOCKERS / RED ROCK WEST to get financed & distributed these days.
The Sting@TheStingisBack

Cop Land is one of the most underrated movies of the 90s. Stallone wanted it so badly he took $60K, packed on weight, and promised no script changes. A powerhouse cast fuels this urban western, and when Ray Liotta was on fire, nobody matched him.

@cj_prin definitely intentional with the marketing but I like the little shots of holing up in the house. Hopefully more of a suburbia being unable to tame and protect from wilderness vibe than wonder

Mulholland Drive posits that Los Angeles, Hollywood, and the American cultural complex has forced the average American into suicidal, delusional escapism.
Sami Gold@souljagoyteller

@27Yeep He fiercely criticizes Americana but he doesn’t loathe it, he also finds comfort in traditional norms. It’s a branch-off of romanticism. To be clear, I haven’t seen twin peaks

Ahead of her lovely new film, The Serpent’s Skin, releasing this weekend, I caught up with my bud Alice to talk about the fallacy of each new film being her “most personal yet,” sensuality in cinema and the timelessness of Buffy. Read it here: inreviewonline.com/2026/03/25/i-d…

@cotereb He popularized auteur theory! I was certain he was right about the greatest auteur of the 90s! How can you watch Mallrats and not think, “this reminds me a lot of Mean Streets”?

Ebert offhandedly dropping "the last time I had lunch with Teri Garr..." like it's no big deal. This is why, whatever you think of his film criticism, he is the king.
