It’s disheartening to see people in the comments trivializing the lived experiences of Kashmiri Pandits and, worse, telling them how they should feel or speak about their own history.
For the first time in years, voices from the KP community are being heard more openly and instead of listening, some choose to lecture. Saying “you should have fought back” is not only simplistic, it ignores the complex reality of what our community endured. It’s always easier to judge in hindsight than to understand the circumstances people were forced to survive.
KP’s have historically placed their faith in education, knowledge, and intellectual contribution. Our community has given scholars, thinkers, and professionals to society for generations. That has been our strength not aggression.
I stand by Samay and what he said and I will always stand by my community whose numbers have dwindled so drastically that its very existence feels uncertain in the years ahead.
Before passing judgment, pause. Listen. And try to understand.
