It is nothing new. *You will NOT hear the loud tone for 30 minutes. It will be the same short burst you receive for tornado/flash flood warnings. *Please don’t turn off emergency alerts on your phone. If you do that, you will miss tornado warnings. And, miss the chance to help someone with a child that has been kidnapped when an amber alert is issued. WEA alerts always need to be ON. *There is also an EAS (Emergency Alert System) portion of the test that local radio/TV stations will air. *You won’t turn into a zombie, and today doesn’t mark the beginning of World War 3. Please don’t listen to the imbeciles on TikTok.

for anyone in the US that needs it: be aware that the october 4th FEMA test alert that’ll send out will play a loud sound on your phone, even if it’s on silent. if you choose to turn it off completely during the alert, it *will still play whenever you turn on your phone again.*
