here's how we're using AI - building a dashboard to centralize ops, get data and make decisions faster. it's called the Engine Room - just an app making all kinds of API calls, with a Slack bot and more integrated. (i shared this on the chat yesterday, but figured a visual overview is a better way to understand what the tool is.) as a founder, i use this to keep track of escalations, see what merchants are asking for and keep tabs on important metrics like web vitals, uninstall journeys etc. the overall goal is to surface insights faster than we can go to each tool and dig in. it started as a prototype 3 months ago and now it's our command centre for everything. and i'm sure there's even more we can do - perhaps an openclaw clicking through everything and giving me a daily digest :)

Too thrilled to not post about this! I've been getting into handheld gaming the past couple years, and seeing all the content on YouTube gave me the itch to create a new channel of my own First video posted a few days ago and was happy with the ~200 views it got. My second video posted yesterday and <24 hrs later it's already at 10k views! The algo picked it up and am super happy with the engagement on it so far Also have some vids ready to go for my Shopify dev channel so it seems like my evenings and weekends for the next while will mostly be taken up by making content and I'm stoked

Was talking with my wife about AI displacing jobs and she brought up a good point: what kind of new jobs and careers will be created from it? The internet didn’t even exist 50 years ago and look how many careers have been pulled into existence because of it

It has been so hard to find the time to update my services website, even though it needs updating. Built on a customized version of Studio (Dawn preset - yes, my website is built on @Shopify 🚀), it has served me well. It’s almost like saying goodbye to an old car—I’ve put it off because “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Still, I’ve received feedback from other devs and agency owners I respect suggesting it needs an update. So my wife and I “started” the process back in September 2024. I’ve finally realized I won’t devote real time to it, so to get it done, I’m paying another dev/designer I know. Why? I could do it myself, but it makes far more sense to focus my attention elsewhere. Honestly, a few years ago I would have balked at spending money on someone else to work on my site (I’m a developer, for crying out loud!), but now it feels like money well spent. I’m more excited about it now, and it’s been great to see creative ideas from someone whose design skills far outmatch my own. The funny part? I’m paying another developer from @ShopDevAlliance to do it! In some circles we’d be seen as competitors, but instead we’re partners, collaborators, and friends. I’m really looking forward to this now. The updated site will represent more than just how my wife and I support Shopify merchants, it will embody the spirit of the @ShopifyDevs community that I’ve been so honored to be part of. Updated site coming soon. I’m too scared to commit to a real date, so I’ll soft-commit to 2026 lol.

@jackfriks I used daisydisk to unearth an ungodly amount of storage taken up by leftover files (~300gb). Definitely worth a shot
