Inaugurated the science conference organized by the Kerala Veterinary University and ReAct as part of the observation of Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week.

Spoke in the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) session at the international conference organized in Chennai by the Commonwealth Medical Association. AMR is causing deaths of hundreds of thousands of people around the world each year. Experts from over fifty countries participated.

Yesterday, I met Dr. Suvanand Sahu, Deputy Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership, and Dr. Arvind Mathur, WHO Country Head for East Timor, in New York. We are here for discussions related to the UN high-level meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance.

I am in Philadelphia to participate in the World AMR Congress. Microorganisms becoming resistant to drugs, including antibiotics, have created a major global health crisis. Efforts to address this are underway globally. World AMR Congress is also a part of it.

In Washington DC with Dr. Shelby Kutty (Director of pediatric and congenital cardiology and the Helen B. Taussig Professor of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, USA) and Dr Prabha (Associate Director, clinical study support team, Integrated Reasearch Facility, NIAID, USA).

On August 2, 1999, exactly 25 years ago, I joined the first batch of 16 WHO field officers who supported the national TB program of India. Dr Thomas Frieden, the WHO international officer, selected and led us. These photos capture moments from our induction training in New Delhi.

World NCD Federation's Southeast Asia conference on noncommunicable diseases concluded in Trivandrum today.

South-East Asian Conference of World NCD Federation started in Thiruvananthapuram today. The conference is on control of non-communicable diseases. Representatives of organizations including the World Health Organization are participating from various countries.

Attended the graduation ceremony of the 'Kanthari International Institute for Leadership', as the chief guest. It was a great experience to meet a large number of young people from different parts of the world who received one-year leadership & social entrepreneurship training.
