Can we get Congress to outlaw the new “facility fee” hospitals are charging? I got a bill for $150 just for seeing my DR in his office he rents from the hospital—over & above the TWO physician charges for a MANDATORY “med check”. So every time I get my mammogram, lab test, or a physical therapy visit, I’ll get TWO bills for each time I walk in that facility. Three bills for a 15 min med check is ridiculous. Emergency room visits will also generate a facility fee. Can’t imagine those bills…. I quit physical therapy for that reason—and I’m going to have to find providers outside our hospital system to provide the services I might need. In rural areas, our entire healthcare provider system is entirely inside 2 hospital systems; having a non hospital based provider means a 50 mile each way trip outside our community. Everyone I know locally is furious about this new fee—and looking for new outside providers as well. This is going to hurt physicians. And curiously, it only started when 2 million illegal migrants were given Medicaid in my state and tore a $3 billion hole in the state budget & ripped hospital ER’s a sinkhole sized challenge. Are insured patients now being asked to subsidize this in addition to our taxes?

There is rumor that we may have the Dr Fix for reimbursement included in the reconciliation bill under construction in Washington DC. This is your opportunity to have your voice heard. As of yesterday, there were 149 co-sponsors and gaining support.
