It has truly been the privilege of a lifetime serving as Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health, and an honour to work alongside such dedicated and passionate individuals at @TOPublicHealth. Earlier this week, I was humbled to be honoured by Mayor Chow and Members of Council for my service as Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health over the last eight years. I am filled with a mix of emotions as my role comes to an end later this month. It has truly been a privilege of a lifetime to serve the people of Toronto and work with some of the most talented and dedicated public service professionals along the way.

My sincerest congratulations to my dear friend of almost twenty years, Dr. Na-Koshie Lamptey, in her appointment as Toronto’s Acting Medical Officer of Health. Dr. Lamptey is one of the most brilliant, caring, and compassionate people I know. She has been a true champion for the health and well-being of our city since she started here at TPH, and I look forward to cheering on her upcoming accomplishments. I am so proud of my colleague and friend. Please join me in wishing Dr. Lamptey all the best in this new adventure.

As I send my final holiday greeting as Medical Officer of Health at @TOPublicHealth, I am filled with deep gratitude. We’ve made remarkable strides in advancing health, reducing inequalities, and protecting the well-being of our city. On Monday, I was joined by my wonderful friends and colleagues to celebrate my final days as Medical Officer of Health at @TOPublicHealth. What an incredible evening it was, full of connection, laughter, and bittersweet reminiscing. It has been the honour of a lifetime to serve Toronto in this extraordinary capacity. Since my days as a medical resident, I have dedicated my focus to protecting the health and well-being of our city. Together with my colleagues, we have faced great challenges and accomplished incredible feats. Thank you to all who celebrated with me. My heart is full of gratitude.

I am deeply honoured and humbled to share that Senator Moodie has awarded me amongst the recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medal to leading Canadians who have left an indelible mark on their communities through medical innovation, advancing education and shaping policy. Surrounded by many incredible and inspiring Canadians, whose dedication, service and excellence have shaped our nation, I stand here beaming with joy and full of gratitude. Today I was joined by the Dr. Lamptey & @TOPublicHealth's Indigenous Health Team for a film screening of “The Pass System” for National #IndigenousPeoplesDay. Thankful for the chance to learn & reflect on some of the harmful policies that Indigenous Peoples have had to endure.
