⚡ Electricity prices, reliability, and accountability are now front-and-center in Washington. Governors are heading to the White House this week to unveil a multi-state agreement aimed at curbing rising power prices across the PJM Interconnection region. Key elements reportedly include: • Temporary limits on capacity price spikes • New approaches to ensure enough generation comes online • Greater responsibility for large new electricity loads to support grid reliability • Faster pathways to build power plants and infrastructure where capacity is short With electricity demand surging — driven by data centers, manufacturing, and electrification — this moment underscores a basic reality: affordability and reliability must move together. Short-term relief is important, but long-term solutions require building new generation, strengthening transmission, and aligning costs with those driving demand. This is a conversation every state, utility, large load, and policymaker should be engaged in.
