i hated and might still hate the thought of it tbh.
i grew up seeing my mum and sister in pains, vomiting, on drip, being on admission all because of it.
the day mine came, i was 11.
it happened when i was in junior secondary, on a friday.
i noticed a stain on my skirt and honestly it didn’t occur to me that that was it, i simply washed it off.
this process happened about 4 times before the day was over and nothing surprised me more than how i felt invincible, like no one saw me, no one noticed it.
it felt strange.
went home, took from my sisters wardrobe, used and slept off.
nobody knew until my second month.

I dont get why they are dragging him. He was invited to this event as a guest speaker. As somepne who enjoys his content, his character represents the everyday life of motherhood to celebrate mothers. He indicated that he was there as Mama Deola - which means he is speaking through the character. He also stated the character is drawn through the lens of his mother's life. Everyone can speak about motherhood and fatherhood through their relationship with their parents.
It doesn't make him a voice for motherhood. He is simply offering a different perspective, not as a mother but as a person who grew up with one. If he can act like a mother and we all enjoy it, why do you draw the line at him speaking about it?

We don’t speak enough about generational patterns. You don’t even know when you’re neck deep in a pattern until it’s too late.
I had to fight it . fight giving up my career for marriage, fight early pregnancy, fight choosing a man over my self . Same age , same pattern…..but I broke it .
