@Towlie1981 The police uniquely have powers over other people's liberty and over life and death. No-one else has that, and with that what you must understand comes incredible responsibility and uncomplaining submission to democratic scrutiny of the people, otherwise get a different job.

@Towlie1981 The "vilification " you talk of (or accountabilty as others would say) has come about for reasons that even the most pro-police politicians admit. There are serious problems in police forces up and down the country, demonstrated most extremely by Wayne Couzens.

@f_longfield It's easy for progressives to sit there and comment about what's right and wrong without ever walking in those shoes. Policing is not perfect - far from it. But the constant vilification and one sidedness from certain areas of society is just plain wrong.
