Sola Scriptura means “Scripture alone.” It is the belief that the Bible is the highest authority for faith and practice, above traditions, opinions, or human institutions.
This idea became central during the Protestant Reformation, when reformers challenged teachings that were not rooted in Scripture. They emphasized that God’s Word should be the ultimate standard for truth, guiding what we believe and how we live.
Sola Scriptura doesn’t reject teaching or guidance; it simply puts everything under the authority of Scripture. It calls believers to test everything against God’s Word, rather than accepting it blindly.
It represents a return to foundation, a commitment to truth, and a call to personally know and understand what God has said.
