Stuyvesant High School in New York City takes only the ~850 top scorers of the 25,000 kids who take the city's high school application test, the SHSAT. The results are consistent with the demographics of my hypothetical "test only" Columbia class: Asians dramatically outdo other groups, whites hold their ground, and all others crash. The SHSAT has been contested by civil rights groups for decades. Mamdani ran on abolishing the test, though quietly changed his position before the general.

@rosehorowitch I feel like this really tries to get around just saying that usually the better students are at the better schools. yes that probably leads to better outcomes! a concentrated class of 1000 smart students is of course going to have better outcomes than 50,000 state flagship kids

No one is saying caring about Palestinian children is the problem.
The problem is claiming to care about ALL children while your own public record tells a different story.
234 mentions of Gaza since October 7th on Ms. Rachel's account. Near silence on Israeli kids. Then gaslight anyone who points it out.
You don't get to call yourself a universal advocate and then pick and choose which children count.

situationships are just a symptom of an extremely risk averse culture where people would rather be in a low grade state of anxiety and misery to avoid having their feelings hurt by getting dumped. technology just allows for these types of things to prolong themselves

there’s a lot of talk of hookup culture but my sense is that there was a very small window in which women could pursue genuinely casual, no strings attached sex. social media/dating apps do not allow for anonymous one night stands. we should be critiquing situationship culture
