South African investors are often split into two polar-opposite camps.
Camp one: “Take your money offshore. South Africa is not investable. We want to live here, but we don’t want to invest here.”
Camp two: “Stay invested locally. The JSE is cheap and full of opportunity. Hell, we even have Rassie”
Both sides make good arguments. Here's the ideal split:

"the best way through hard times, is to help other people through hard times"
good one...keep learning it over and over at various levels
when you’re DEEP in it, like, just have no clue how you’re going to make it to the next day…if you can reach within you and find some source of strength -- even if its just "you know what, FUCK IT" -- and then go way outside urself to help others, the amt of good that can come from that is insane
the strength that passeth all understanding
the further you can launch urself outside ur comfort zone, the better. volunteer...write some crazy painful shit and post it online...run thru ur phone book looking for ppl you know who are "up against it" and stay on them like glue...go to extremes.
(2/4)
on the other side what happens is u look back and realize that ur an entirely different person, or ur relationships became bulletproof, or u got some massive tangible benefit from ur efforts.
the fruits of blind faith & bold action... or just what Montaigne wrote: "Necessity is a violent schoolmistress."
in many ways when u study the lives of great men this is their secret, they ALWAYS find a way to turn misfortune to their advantage
have to cultivate that / rewire urself so that everything is met with, "how can I grow from this, how can this make me better, how can I use my enemies to my advantage"...once its instinctual, that mindset makes u extremely hard to kill
---> leads to that Freudism... "the years of struggle, in hindsight, will strike you as the most beautiful."
(3/4)
even at the micro level some mornings u just wake up bumming, like a Charlie Brown character w that grumpy thought bubble... check my phone, random DM "hey can you look over this pitch." sure...no idea wtf datadog does but the pitch itself, this part looks sloppy, too many words & not enough numbers, no primary rsch, tighten this part...
20 mins go by, click send
completely forgot wtf I was grumpy about
happens 2-3x a week
a throwaway term from a book by Malcolm Muggeridge, he talks about being stuck in "the deep dark dungeon of the ego"...pinching that for regular use.
bc that's really what it is most of the time, there's like 10% of shit you need to do/can do/is in your control...and the other 90% is just u dwelling in the ego dungeon instead of finding a way to be useful to people
(4/4)
last part thats a good one - "when you have the capacity to help, help"
u wont get it unless you've been INCAPABLE at any point
the adjustment is that if u wake up, healthy and full of energy, ur duty is to help ppl, if only because tmw you could get hit by a goddamn cement mixer and then u cant help
"the healthy man desires many things, the sick man desires only one thing"
put a Bible or something in plain sight when u wake up as a reminder "God gave me health and strength today." ur already blessed...u have the capacity to help...now u have to do it
get active, train, run around, find a way to be useful to the world outside ur immediate circle, slide thru the day with élan vital...momentum begets momentum. to paraphrase Pascal, to wish a man quiet leisure with the intent of wishing him happiness, is to fundamentally misunderstand human nature...nothing is more loathsome to a man lol
even if ur life absolutely sucks, there's obstacles everywhere u look and ur facing impossible odds, u gotta make it clear to God...like...I feel you big dog, but at the same time, I will not be denied.
everything good flows from that...the universe starts to rearrange itself around the man who goes around blindly pulling ppl outta rock bottom.
"the best way thru hard times, is to help others thru hard times"
and of course, the perennial: "Ayúdate que Dios te ayudará."
God helps the man who helps himself...

I want a slow life. A life filled with meaning. No rush. No anxiety. No overthinking about the future. Just quiet calm. Doing my thing. Quiet morning coffee watching the sunrise. Going for long walks in nature. Cooking healthy meals listening to some lo-fi. Reading thick books that take weeks to finish. Spending time with people who match my vibe. And the time to pursue mastery to get better at something slowly, patiently. A simple calm low-key life.

sandile ngidi@mahlephula
Vintage publishef this book in 1990. As dad liked to say; it's terrific and terrifying. A classic. How to read the many pasts and presences of contemporary South Africa. A timeless meditation on a beautiful land, its people and its delightful pronouns. Salutes!

Who is actually left in the world that believes this BS. Tesla is definitely the most overvalued company I have seen in my 30 years as a fund manager.
The AI Investor@The_AI_Investor
Elon Musk on Optimus: if Tesla were making a billion of these a year at scale.. maybe it would be $30k each, I'm just guessing.. that’s $30 trillion in revenue. 10x sales is $300 trillions market cap potential, $TSLA is cheap 😂

How to build generational wealth in 14.5 years:
Here’s how:
The TFSA is one of the only places where SARS gets zero.
• No interest tax (up to 45%)
• No dividend tax (20%)
• No capital gains tax (up to 18%)
Max it at R36k per year.
Earn 10% per year
After 14.5 years it’s fully maxed out:
Total value: +-R1mil (contributions + growth)
Now leave it alone:
- 10 years later: +- R2,7 mil
- 20 years later: +-R7,1 mil
- 30 years later: +-R18,3 mil
That’s generational wealth for R3k per month. Do it for yourself, do it for your partner, do it for your kids.
The mistake?
Treating it like a savings account instead of an investment account. The graph illustrates the difference.
How to Invest?
- Younger investors: Full equity for wealth creation
- Older investors: Blended solution for growth and protection.
Full breakdown, action steps and performance below.
