@DylanMcD8 The base phones are popular with the normies who just want an iPhone but don’t want to get the “cheap” e model. But they make no sense to me in the lineup. If you’re financing for 36 months like most people do the monthly price between it and the pro is only 8 bucks.

This continues to make zero sense to me. iPhone launches have been in September for over a decade. Carrier promotional and upgrade cycles are based on that. This will mess up cycles for millions. And it really makes no sense with the new Siri AI features, certainly they would want to have a baseline iPhone with 12GB RAM to go along with that launch!

@markgurman I really only use AI for searching and asking general questions on whatever random topic I’m interested in. I don’t use Gen AI for anything and don’t use it to code or write papers etc. so it’s replaced perplexity for me on my device already.

The new Siri finally works as it is supposed to for the first time in 15 years and the pre-installed status is going to give Apple a competitive baseline to ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude that will steal away users of basic tasks like search, the most popular AI use case.

@ParkerOrtolani It’s fully replaced Perplexity for me and now I probably can’t get an Apple device without it. I was going to get an iPad A16 as a companion for my M5 MacBook Air but broke down and got an M4 iPad Air mostly for longevity but new Siri was also a major factor

do at your own risk of course, but honestly I think there’s never been a feature more worth running a beta for than the new Siri experience
