As an academic, the relative silence of the humanities and many social sciences about the future of our world with AI (besides far too many saying "AI is bad" without nuance), is a shame.
These are fields with a lot to say about the nature of being human, silent at a key moment.

The whole “UNC killer Luigi Mangione did psychedelics and went crazy/schitzo” narrative is so out of left field that there are only two only explanations for its popularity. First is people who have never done psychedelics making wild assumptions about their power. Second is people who are so mentally unwell that a 6-12 hour drug experience could turn them into someone who throws their life away at 26 to become the meme assassin of 2024.

His account was just deleted but Luigi Mangione, the alleged United Healthcare CEO shooter, followed a lot of psychedelic accounts including @erowid. Apparently his (also inaccessible) goodreads had several books about psychedelics.
